[asa] Spiritual Awakening

Fellow Christians, please listen. Please reply if you wish to my question
below, and please forward if you deem this worthy. This is somewhat off
topic for a science vs faith listserve, but certainly an appropriate place
for a message about the moral decline of our country and the power of God to
do something about it.

On July 12th, I received and forwarded an email message to many friends
about 2 Chronicles 7:14: "if my people, who are called by my name, will
humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their
land."

This was on a sign in someone's yard in TX. Little did I know that our
pastor at FUMC Shreveport in LA was preaching on that very topic, and had
delivered an amazing sermon on it the week before (we've been out of town).
In this Methodist Church, our Methodist minister got up, and delivered one
of the most powerful sermons I have ever heard. You don't hear it in the
audio only part (see downloads below), but the ENTIRE CHURCH came down to
the altar and prayed. They prayed for an awakening in themselves, and in our
country. In a Methodist Church.

James Dobson says it clearly: "We are awash in evil and the battle is still
to be waged. We are right now in the most discouraging period of that long
conflict. Humanly speaking, we can say we have lost all those battles."

I would like to add that we haven't lost the war.and the war is ongoing. We
need a Spiritual Awakening. We need to stand up. Too long, we have sat and
watched the world we live in slowly degrade around us.

If you agree with this, think about letting others know. Listen to the
messages below, or watch them. I think there are changes ongoing that will
help us win this war. It is going to take you - and me - praying, humbly,
for change, for forgiveness, and for our country and our leadership.

My question for you is this: Is this happening in your church (and if not,
why not)? I have a feeling that God is visiting pastors and members
elsewhere.
