I was 7 and I think I remember the news replays more than the actual event.

I remember their trip to the moon before they landed. Remember on the old black and white tv's when you turned them off, there was a white dot in the middle of the screen for some time? My older brother said that was the moon, and if you look closely, you can see the astronauts traveling there... so yes, I stared at the white dot quite a few times looking for them, as if it was some sort of telescope... ;-)

I don't know if my brother was teasing me or if he really believed it too.

That's young people for you - they think that "Moonwalk" is a dance step Michael Jackson invented! But who can blame them when that's what Google says? It turns out that the Moonwalk isn't a Jackson original but that aside he first performed it on 25 March, 1983. And I bet most of your students weren't around for THAT either... :)

Blessings,
Murray
