Iain:

I'm interested in what you, or your friend, mean by "not able to have a
relationship with God."
What exactly does this mean? What kind of relationship is expected?
Is this the same as having no faith? As soon as I say this a hundred
questions arise. Having no faith in what?

Is this inability like what is found in Psalm 62? If so, it is common.
Is this part of the problem: believing it is not common or expecting
something that ought not be expected?
