From occasional reading of UcD the pro ID people who post in response
to the headline "articles", I would certainly agree that many of them
want ID to become an alternative to evolution. While I may have missed
it in his writings, it is not clear to me that Dembski even accepts
common descent.
However, I just finished reading Behe's "Edge of Evolution" and my take
would be that he wants to supplement evolution not replace it.
