RE: [asa] Noah's Ark- the debate over floods... and biblical interpretation

Hi Merv:

The flood was intended to wipe out the covenant race and the rainbow was a
sign of God's covenant with Noah that never again would his people be judged
by a flood. And that promise by God has held up for 5,000 years.

The area saw many episodes of flooding throughout the following centuries,
but they built mud brick platforms to survive them.

If one accepts the local (Mesopotamian) flood, then what does the rainbow
covenant mean? --that God will never flood that particular area again? Or
He
will never again send water against the Hebrews?
