For a local flood:

Was there a flood? The Bible and other ancient texts say so. Why would
anyone make up such a story if there was no such event? What purpose would
it serve?

Was it local rather than global? Wind caused the waters to recede, which
is not what happens when wind blows on the ocean. It didn't float the
Greenland and Antarctica ice caps. There are many other questions such as
where all that water is now and how sloths made it to the Americas after
the flood.
