Hi Dick,
I greatly value and respect your position in this conversation. But let's face it - 'positions' don't 'evolve'; they are human-made things. We choose to hold positions, they are not random or forced upon us by the environment (this applies to Dr. Wood, whom I don't know, too); well, at least positions are not forced entirely. We do have a measure of freedom at our deepest human roots.
I thought you'd have remembered this radical suggestion as I've obviously already convinced almost everyone at ASA that 'human-made things don't evolve into being!' This includes 'positions,' unless you'd like to argue a claim that human positions are not examples of human-made things. Unfortunately, for all of the good, faithful intentions and responsible messages that Ted and Steve will present in Dayton, and in large part due to the lowly (even despicable to some!) meaning of 'anti-evolution' in America in particular, I doubt there will be an ever-present tone of caution or warning about 'evolutionism,' i.e. applications outside of the proper limitations of the term 'evolution'. If it carries a biology-only meaning or a natural sciences-only meaning, then evolution is much less harmful to the larger and more complex, higher realm of human-social thought, which involves anthropology and either theology or atheology.
It's a funny thing that Americans seem more reluctant than most to banish the term 'evolution' and the verb 'to evolve' from their common vocabularies of everyday life. I was just in India and have spoken many times in Russia about this and they ALL seem to get it, and quite easily! They are way ahead of America in this regard, thinking holistically. But perhaps this is why you put 'evolved' in 'scare quotes,' meaning it tongue in cheek and not as anything 'real' in a social scientific sense, though that was the context in which it was used In which case, hopefully you'll have a smile and chuckle that I took the bait. :)
As always and more,
Gregory

Hi Ted:
Kurt wasn't "new school" when I debated with him for two hours at
an ASA meeting. His position apparently has "evolved" since then as he now
holds that the geological evidence points to an old earth but the Bible teaches
YEC, therefore he's a YEC. Wood can't "improve the position," he needs to
abandon the position. Print him out a copy of "Days of Creation: Hours or
Eons," and leave it with him with my kind regards. Oh, and don't let
the door knob hit you ...
