Denis's book provides a very good treatment of many of the issues related to creation and evolution. It will be especially helpful for conservative Christians who want to understand how evolution can be compatible with the Genesis creation accounts. He presents very good arguments for rejecting historical and scientific concordism. IMO the main problem with Denis's approach is that it also limits the _theological_ scope of these texts. I.e., Gen.3 is seen as a statement that all people are sinners (which of course it is), but the fact that scripture presents this as the _first_ sin and as the origin of human sunfulness is not given adequate emphasis. Some of the differences between my approach to these questions & Denis's are brought out in the discussion of my 2006 PSCF article on original sin on Steve Martin's blog at http://evanevodialogue.blogspot.com/2008/10/christ-evolution-and-original-sin-brief.html . Denis's response to my article is the 4th installment of thi!
s discussion & my reply (to his comments as well as those of Terry Gray & David Congdon) is in later installments.
