I didn't intend it to sound irreverent. I'm sorry for the loss of his
friend. Genetic diseases resulting from mistakes are a negative indicator
of ID. It would kind of be like a train engineer who pushes the throttle
but sleeps at the switch. Our genome as well as all of life is a record of
fits and starts. ID paints an incongruous picture of the Creator who
designed the bacteria's flagellum with precision but wasn't paying attention
when hemophilia or any other genetic disorder entered the human population
through genetic flaws. On the other hand, there is a certain logic that says
either God takes no intervening action in the progression of life and thus
does not know the future, or if the future is known to Him then He must make
continual interventions to ensure the desired result. I think that is a
conundrum that will have to wait until we get on the other side. Unless one
of you all possesses the answer .

Did I miss something? Why did you say that you "hope he didn't have Down
Syndrome"?

Yesterday a friend was buried. On the card from his service was Psalms
139:13-16.
verse 16 says,
" Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them. " NASV
This Psalm raises an interesting idea. God knew all the details and
design of the man's life long before he was born. And ordained
(pre-planned) his days and fate.
Sounds like design to me.
And I cant see where there is any way any series of natural processes
can produce any such pre-planned creature or detailed days of his
life. Not without massive tinkering and interference with the flow of
natural processes.
