Isn't war a rather strange metaphor for what we should be doing in
response to anyone, whether atheists, Christians we disagree with on
science or politics or theology, or Muslims or anyone else?
Aren't we supposed to be the ones who make peace, who turn away wrath
with a soft answer, who as much as possible live at peace with all
men, we who follow the prince of Peace? Aren't we supposed to be
calming the waters, gently giving the reason (Logos) for the hope
that lies within us, turning the other cheek to those who attack us?
I don't mean to pick on Mike - I could have made this reply to any of
a number of people who participate on this list, including myself on
a number of occasions in the past.
I think the topics discussed here are all important, but none are as
important and all must serve the cause of love and mercy and the One
who suffered for us. Forgive those who aren't as smart as you are,
whatever your position, and pray for them until He gives it to you to
offer your own soul to save them, as Paul did for his fellow Jews. It
will do you good, and if my experience is any indication, it will
make you laugh.
