This is a book recommendation, for GW activists and GW denialists alike.

THE DISCOVERY OF GLOBAL WARMING, by Spencer R. Weart, Harvard
University Press, 2008.

The original version of this book was published in 2003. This edition
is considerably revised and expanded. I've read detective stories
that did not hold my attention as well as this one does. It is a
"serious summary for those who like reasoned argument." (back jacket
blurb).

Highly recommended as an insight into how science really works when
the subject matter is highly complex and messy.
