Re: [asa] On Darwin the secular saint

I suggested on my Facebook page that people who want to commemorate Darwin's
birthday do so by expressing thanks to their former science teachers and
schools (or their kids') for teaching evolution accurately and sensitively.
For those for whom that was true, of course. I noticed the teachers of
Dover, PA were included in a video "birthday card" by an evolutionary
biology society.

Agreed. It's no disresepct to Darwin as a scientist, or just as a human
being, & to the importance of his work to note that a lot of this year's
Darwinfest is in the same spirit as his contrived burial in Westminster
Abbey - significantly, against Darwin's own wishes.

Shalom,
George
