Re: [asa] Inappropriate or threatening offlist email

Hi folks--

Good suggestions all. Here's a little more information. First, there is very little chance that this is a spoofed email. It bears pretty clear marks of authenticity, and though way beyond the pale it is not (in my opinion) wildly out of character considering the sender. Second, the sender has been contacted, with no response as yet, and the message in question has been seen by other list regulars, perhaps including a moderator. Third, one other list participant (so far) has reported receiving "intimidating" messages from the same person, soon after beginning to participate regularly.

Anyway, at this point I would just like to make sure that those who have received threatening or intimidating messages lately just make sure that someone knows about it. (Persons to notify would include Randy Isaac, Ted Davis and Terry Gray, I think.) And be assured that I will deal with this matter in consultation with others. Now let's talk about something else.

Yes, I think this is good advice. It's hard for me to envision any regular
participants on this list sending threatening emails and there are
trouble-makers on the internet.

Mike
