It's interesting -- most of the hubub seems to center around Cardinal
Schonborn's remarks. IMHO, Schonborn is a much more careful and nuanced
thinker than it often seems from popular press. (See, e.g., his Cathechesis
on evolution and humanity:

some more detailed reports come to light. Personally, I admire and envy the
contemporary Catholic Church's energy and seriousness in this area.
