In light of some of the recent discussions with Timaeus (which I tried to follow but didn't have time to contribute to), I'd suggest borrowing or buying Alister McGrath's new book The Open Secret: A New Vision for Natural Theology?by Blackwell Publishing, 2008.? To quote from his website, "Natural theology is about seeing nature from?a Christian perspective, and hence discerning its truth, beauty, and, goodness".
In other words, McGrath follows the trail?blazed by Thomas Torrance that any legitimate natural theology will be a "dependent" not independent pursuit.? This is also similar to what George Murphy and others on this list have been saying for quite some time (e.g., http://www.asa3.org/ASA/PSCF/2006/PSCF3-06Murphy.pdf?).? Although ID is barely mentioned by McGrath, the entire book can be read as an explanation of the?misguided nature?of an ID approach.
It's well worth reading, whether you ultimately agree with him or not.
