"G.K. Chesterton wrote: "The evolutionists seem to know everything about the missing link except that it is missing." What is also missing is any kind of programme on TV that gives the alternative view to evolution. If creationism is such a fairy tale, why should producers be so frightened of it?"

Notice the writer knows nothing of the new breed of "evolutionary creationists" (Denis Lamoureux, Francis Collins). He makes it sound like one is either one or the other. From the ASA conference last weekend, I find many in the ASA who have the same false dichotomy. The writer assumes that the Creator could not have used evolution as his creative means.

Subject: [asa] The Genius of Charles Darwin

On Channel 4 in the UK, Richard Dawkins is presenting 3 episodes in a
series titled "The Genius of Charles Darwin". In the first episode
Dawkins explains why he believes Darwin's explanation of the fact of
evolution is the best and discusses evolutionary theory with a class
of children.

An interesting response from

RICHARD DAWKINS' presentation of The Genius of Charles Darwin of
Channel 4 was not so much the story of Darwin but more the God-hating
views of Dawkins.

In his opinion creationism is mythology and evolution is science, and
anybody who dares to disagree is bigoted. This is rich coming from
someone who won't listen to anyone who doesn't hold his views.

The fact is that Darwin had a lot of promblems with his views, but
these won't be mentioned in Channel 4's series. For instance, he
confessed that the human eye could not have been formed by natural
selection and that his theory was dependant on transitional forms that
have not been found.

G.K. Chesterton wrote: "The evolutionists seem to know everything
about the missing link except that it is missing."

What is also missing is any kind of programme on TV that gives the
alternative view to evolution. If creationism is such a fairy tale,
why should producers be so frightened of it?

Seems the dear Reverend may not have actually watched the presentation
which can be enjoyed at Google Video:
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=The+Genius+of+Charles+Darwin

We see once again how foolish the quote mining of Darwin can undermine
one's argument and credibility, this time the usual nonsense about the
'eye' and 'transitional fossils'
Who needs enemies with such friends, I wonder?

I watched the video and am revisiting it, and so far, in spite of some
historical mistakes, I found the first episode to be quite compelling.
