Or try this one on: We *may* be willing (especially when it's hypothetical) to
sacrifice our own lives for our faith. I.e. along with the many martyrs of
history & recent times to refuse to recant of our faith under the personal
threat of pain & death. But what if the persecutor starts torturing & killing
others in front of us until we renounce our faith? What would Jesus have done
with that one? (Such things have happened in history).
And what about all the potential martyrs who couldn't bear up under the torture
and renounced their faith in the face of it. & now they are damned for eternity
on top of that? Bummer.
