[asa] Regarding Utility

The discussion about ethics and morality in medicine with regard to evolution and religious belief is fascinating.
Another segment of ethics that is closely related is Utilitarianism.
Can the evolutionary paradigm (naturalism) provide any restriction from the excesses of utility?
