I think your example below shows how society unconsciously treats
"moderns" as human and isolated tribes as "sub-human," kind of like how
slaves may have been considered sub-human. Also, "ignorance is bliss"
(we don't know of their terrible conditions (women death in childbirth,
etc.), so maybe they are doing just fine).

About five years ago, the same issue of National Geographic had an
article championing leaving isolated Amazonian natives alone and an
article decrying the treatment of untouchables in India. They did not
seem to notice the contradiction between the call for non-intervention
and the call for action. Any culture has some good and some bad
features.
