Jon,

C. John (Jack) Collins' book "Science & Faith: Friends or Foes? devotes a chapter (17) to the question, "Is Intelligent Design a Dumb Idea?" In the chapter, he deals briefly with theological, philosophical, and scientific objections to ID. The first paragraph of the chapter conclusion reads as follows:
"So now we can come back to our original question: Is intelligent design a dumb idea? We have a clear definition of it, so we know what we're talking about. We have considered some of the standard objections to it from the fields of theology, philosophy of science, and biology itself. None of those objections is compelling; in fact, when you look at them carefully, they actually show that to eliminate intelligent design from the scientist's toolbox of explanations would itself be a dumb idea."

Jack Collins thus appears to be at least a friend of ID. He should probably stick to Hebrew exegesis.
