I love the "ultra-literal interpretation of the text." Yes, it fits the
creation of the earth and directional light to earth before the creation
of the sun. But it also oscillates between translating /raquia'/ as
atmosphere or space, and ignoring the presence of water behind where the
sun, moon and stars were placed. I like it that birds fly in front of or
under the atmosphere. This applies to penguins and cormorants, but it
would drown most members of the class Aves. The old timers got a canopy
out of the waters above the firmament, but that possibility was destroyed
by Glenn.

As to Heddle's " In what sense would an erroneous teaching of cud-chewing
rabbits be 'god breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for
correction, and for training in righteousness'" assumes also that the
correct translation of /raquia'/ must also be spiritually profitable. One
need to understand that the passages that contain spiritual information
are profitable, not every word. If his point is correct, then I have to
extract spiritual meaning from every vav-consecutive. Is the message
identical each time, or are there various beneficial teachings? On the
other hand, is Heddle going to present a measure of relevance to various
lengths of phrases?
