One other caveat: Given that we have no reason to suppose that we have
been exceptionally slow at evolving, yet a significant interstellar
presence for humanity seems a long ways off, it is possible that the
conclusions are premature.

(Of course, assuming that our inclination to spread is normative is
extrapolating from a small sample; inclination to spread would not
necessarily translate into von Neumann probes as opposed to more
ordinary exploratory probes, etc.)
