I thought it might be worth noting that there are two pieces by ASA physicists in the current professional, though non-technical, literature.
Robert Griffiths, a theoretical physicist at Carnegie-Mellon who's done important work in statistical mechanics and quantum theory has a review of two books in the religion-science field in the February Physics Today. The 1st is of Philip Clayton and Jim Schaal Practicing Science, Living Faith: Interviews with Twelve Leading Scientists (Columbia U, 2007), & the 2d John Polkinghorne's Quantum Physics and Theology: An Unexpected Kinship (Yale U, 2007). (Physics Today is a monthly journal published by the American Institute of Physics & sent to all members.)
In the February APS [American Physical Society] News Vernon Ehlers, a nuclear physicist who is US Representative from the 3d District of Michigan has an opinion piece titled "A Physicist for President?" (He makes it clear that he isn't running or promoting a particular candidate for 2008 but points out the value of having a trained scientist in the office & in political office generally.) APS News is available online but the current issue can be accessed only by APS members.
