Steve (CSCA) writes: "My interpretation of this is that, at a minimum, Keller agrees that the science of biological evolution can be compatible with orthodox Christianity."

The problem here is that 'biological evolution' is only one small type of 'evolution.' There are many others, which biologists seem to brush aside as 'unscientific' (and thus unworthy of contemplation). But as others on this list have recently pointed out, no single person or discipline has any monopoly over what counts or doesn't count as 'scientific.' This is why the field of 'Science Studies' teaches on Day One that there are many sciences and not one single, monolithic Science. Biological science needs to be humbled or 'put in its place' (D. Livingstone 2005) in its presentation of evolutionary theory.

The idea that "if evolution is elevated into a worldview" is a bit 'too little to late,' imo. Evolutionary theory undergirds the worldview of many, many, many late-modern and post-modern persons. It has become an ideology, the ideology of evolutionism, in many fields of the contemporary academy.

Evolution is everywhere (e.g. D.S. Wilson 2008)! Otoh, TE/EC is like a little chocolate bunny saying 'Easter has another meaning!' You can decide for yourself which has the more amplified voice in today's society.

  Regards,
Gregory (living outside of unorthodox Canada)
