I will add my 2c to this most interesting discussion.

Many years ago, as a brash IBM rep, I witnessed to a certain client of mine
and was roundly laughed at (by him) although we remained friends.

A few years later he wrote to me with spiritual questions. I replied -- and
received a letter from him a year later telling of his conversion and
thanking me for "hanging in."

Needless to say -- I was delighted. But as the years have gone by my friend
has become one of those fundamentalists who claims that the KJV is not only
the "best" version, but it is, itself, inspired. Even beyond the originals!

After a few protestations, I have decided NOT to further engage him n this
topic, for it is my perception that his faith may be fragile. IOW, should he
conclude that the KJV is NOT inspired, he might desert Christianity
altogether.

Such may be the case with many YECs. Iain has argued with me in the past
that I am "too hard" on them. He may have a point.
