With all due respect maybe instead of reading between the lines you
should read it straight instead for a more accurate view. The
author does not imply that the Genesis author was "too ignorant to
get the facts straight". Such an accusation might better be leveled
at people who try to twist our modern Socratic/Aristotelean modern
scientific knowledge and thought to explain a document which in
fact does not fit in that structure. Instead Blocher intelligently
examines the culture and orality of the culture of the day and
concludes that genesis was more likely constructed accordingly.
Indeed this is something not only true of the cultures in that area
of that day - but is not at all dissimilar to many other cultures
in other parts of the world. Frequently real events are couched in
terminologies and explanations that can be understood by their
people and have a dual purpose of marrying fact to important
mythology. The spiritual explanation of our existence and lives.

Or perhaps so-called scientists are going to the pains of trying to
tie Western scientific logical explanations to a text describing a
religious-social-cultural teaching.

Intelligently.
