[asa] story of stuff (consumerism)

I recently had this link emailed to me:
http://www.storyofstuff.com/ Make sure you have a high-speed
connection -- the presentation takes a bit to download.

While it will strike some here as anti-corporation (as any objective
appraisal would inevitably be perceived), I found it to be a basically
sound societal critique, albeit with some oversimplifications. Now,
how can students get this message without their eyes glazing over as
they think to themselves "okay -- here's just some more
environmentalists saying things that environmentalists are supposed to
say..." ?

Is such science and statistics as it has accurate as far as any of you
can tell?
