Thanks for the additional info on Gary Parker.
What I found fascinating about the schedule of the RATE conference was the amount of time allotted to each speaker and topic. Essentially 4 1/2 hours of the day were devoted to five talks from four speakers:
Parker - 1/2 hr. - Theological introduction as to why YEC is important
Baumgardner - 1 hr. - His C14 RATE study
Humphreys - 1 hr. - His helium diffusion RATE study
DeYoung - 3/4 hr. - Summary of 3 or 4 other RATE studies
Parker - 1 1/4 hr. - Theological wrap-up as to why YEC is important
So in a conference about RATE science results, Parker (the only non-RATE speaker) was given 40% of the time to give the standard YEC justification and caricature of "evolutionary science". And during the Q & A time with four "RATE scientists", 3 of 8 questions (~40%) were directed to Gary Parker. There is no doubt about the purpose of the RATE conference -YEC evangelism.
