Surely, we need more than science to understand the whole of reality. The question is, which metaphysics one chooses as the basis of all that there is?

Asking if ID will survive the Dover trial is like asking decades ago if creationism would survive the Scopes trial. A religiously or philosophically motivated "science" doesn't need to have successful court appearances for it to survive.
