This morning connection speed is down to 24K baud making downloading
long messages very painful so it would be appreciated if people would
limit their quotes to that directly relevant to their posts. Usually
36Kbaud is my connection speed on dial up but this am things are slow.
Late yesterday we had a wind and hail storm with thunder so maybe that
has affected things? At home I have high speed but that costs too much
here in the country side. This does not seem like the information
highway more like the information cow path. One of the airlines is
advertising on FM radio, flights to Glasgow for 99$ return but their web
site is totally unusable with my connection speed.

A technical note for others on dial up. This year I am using a real US
robotics external modem and it gives me 34 to 36Kbaud regularly. Last
year I used
a generic internal modem and was only getting 24 to 28Kbaud. Possibly
the lines have been improved but I doubt it.
