Just got back in town and am following up on my earlier post regarding Griffin:
For those interested, my comments on the "latest" are at # 73 and 77 here:

Some other comments I agree with are copied and pasted below (each
with its numbered hot link) here:
Notice how carefully he declines to actually disavow said unpopular
opinion. He deserves an attaboy for his well-crafted
apology. <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1846016/posts?page=1#1>1
An apology like Galleleo's.... repent ye who commit heresy against
the Church of Global
Warming

He has sinned in the church of gore and has asked for forgiveness.
His penance will be three carbon credits and two tree hugs. What
insanity!

Has St. Al of Gore granted him absolution? Or will he be burnt at the
stake using a renewable
biofuel? <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1846016/posts?page=16#16>16
Sounded scripted to me; what I got out of it is that he wants to keep
his job. <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1846016/posts?page=25#25>25
"..personal views". Each and every utterance from the believers has
been no more than a personal
view. <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1846016/posts?page=29#29>29
"There is a streak of fascism in the science community that gives one
pause." Scientists are people too. Lots of cash is floating around
for those who are willing to spout the GlobalWarmingTM mantra and
people can get pretty vicious when it comes to protecting their rice
bowls. <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1846016/posts?page=24#24>24

Yes, very much so. I was in a PhD program in Ecology back in the
'80s. I attended a briefing on a study of the correlation between air
pollution and the disappearance of balsams in the Smokies. The
conclusion of the study was they could find no such correlation. (We
now know it was an insect infestation causing the problem.)
Immediately after the presentation, the forum shifted to how to
impose restrictions on air emissions in order to protect the Smokies
woodlands. I interrupted and asked for clarification ... why would we
do that if we could find no correlation of air pollution and the
destruction of the mountain forests? The response was that it was a
good opportunity to use scientific research to change human
behavior. I dropped out of the program a couple of years later. The
politics outweighed science everywhere I
turned. <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1846016/posts?page=40#40>40
Griffin's is not a special case. Just look at how the world's top
leaders are now falling all over themselves to appear to be the most
in favor of cutting GHGs. We are ALL stuck under the influence of
the leftist's propaganda
now. <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1846016/posts?page=72#72>72
Can anyone here tell me what the average temp of the earth should
be?? <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1846016/posts?page=43#43>43
~ Janice ... 'Few man are willing to brave the disapproval of their
fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their
society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle
or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential, vital quality for
those who seek to change a world which yields most painfully to
change.' ~ Robert F.Kennedy

.....The head of NASA told scientists and engineers that he regrets
airing his personal views about global warming during a recent radio
interview, according to a video of the meeting obtained by The
Associated Press.
NASA administrator Michael Griffin said in the closed-door meeting
Monday at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena that
"unfortunately, this is an issue which has become far more political
than technical and it would have been well for me to have stayed out of it."
"... I feel badly that I caused this amount of controversy over
something like this," he said.
Griffin made headlines last week when he told a National Public Radio
interviewer he wasn't sure global warming was a problem.
"I have no doubt that ... a trend of global warming exists," Griffin
said on NPR. "I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a
problem we must wrestle with."
The radio interview angered some climate scientists, who called his
remarks ignorant.
An international panel this year predicted that uncontrolled
greenhouse gas emissions could .....
Griffin told JPL workers he tried to separate his opinions during the
NPR interview, but that it got "lost in the shuffle." ...."
