Thank you Ted for the letter to UcD and all the others who have posted
on UcD.
I thought it would have been more fair to post your letter as one of
their headline items on the home page, but at least they posted it
(last night I found your letter posted on UcD, but not this morning,
maybe their site has a temporary glitch).
At bedtime, I have been reading a little book called "His thought
said... His father said..." by Amy Carmichael. Two weeks ago this
coming Sunday, after I had read UcDs post "Letter to thinking Christians
(and other theists)" I was feeling rather down as I went to bed. The
reading for that night is as follows:
There are no Exceptions
His thoughts said, The things which have happened unto me do not seem to
have fallen out unto the furtherance of the Gospel--they seem to be very
hindering.
His Father said, If thou hadst understanding in the visions of God,
though wouldest know that all things work together for good not only for
him who loveth, but for that on which his heart is set. And to the
words, "all things," there are no exceptions.
One could say this was by chance but I doubt it. In the subsequent
nights, when discouraged, I have re read the above a number of times.
While I certainly do not see how this can be to the furtherance of the
Gospel, all I can do is trust the crucified One.
