This particular exchange, which I had with Phil Johnson, is one that
discusses Ocham's razor and God while also being (I hope others agree) very
civil and respectful, while fundamental differences in viewpoint were
exchanged. I was more hopeful then (1998-9) for some fruitful, genuinely
helpful cooperation with the ID movement in general. I am still hopeful for
such conversations in the future with several individuals who promote ID,
esp but not only some friends in the ASA.

I should add: although I don't agree at all with Phil's "santa claus/God"
slight of hand -- I believe strongly in a God whom we have actually seen, in
the crucified and resurrected Jesus, the divine Word through whom the world
was made -- I agree with Phil's low view of Gould's NOMA idea. I should
have commented on that in my response.
Phil was responding to my review of 3 ID books, incl his own "Defeating
Darwinism." http://home.messiah.edu/~tdavis/gaps.htm
A very fair-minded person (apparently) has linked my review, and that of
Terry Gray, with several others on various sides at
