Hi David! Welcome! I, like you, just joined about a
week or two ago (maybe you saw my first post?) and
have found it very helpful so far :)

I second the idea of getting an undergrad.
internship--I just graduated not long ago myself
('04-BS, '06-MS), and found them immensly useful. Not
only are you surrounded by people who will continually
challenge you and open up career opportunities to you,
you may also discover more about yourself and what you
want in your career. For me, I discovered that I do
better at interdisciplinary endeavors than I do with
pure research, so I ended up shifting away from an
academic setting (geophysics/seimsology research) to a
government setting (environmental policy/analysis),
which I believe was a good decision for me in the long
run.

Like you, I recently read Mere Christianity for the
first time too, and really enjoyed it. Although I
didn't agree with everything in it, C. S. Lewis is a
great writer, and from my viewpoint, is right on the
mark most of the time. I also recommend some of his
other books (which I've also just recently
read)--Screwtape Letters, The Problem of Pain, A Grief
Observed, and The Abolition of Man. Right now, I'm
reading Miracles--this promises to be interesting too.

Anyway, I'll quit adding to your reading list
now...look forward to corresponding more in the
future!

Christine Smith
