I agree with Phil. The Bible has a finite number of pages that are intended to convey God's truth to thousands of generations of people. It would seem wasteful to include a book without a purpose. There are hints of God's plan of salvation as early as Genesis 3, and God's plan for his chosen people and his mercy are taught in Genesis.

I am confused as to why you are dismissing Genesis. As a TE, I find much theological significance within Genesis. My issue is with the Creationists' interpretation of certain Genesis passages, not with the book itself.
