However there are two kinds of progressive creationists that I have
found. One group insists that new genera or families (or other level) are
introduced individually at the appropriate times. The other holds that
new genetic material is introduced into some members of existing species
to produce the new genera, families, or higher categories. The latter
seems more compatible with the genetic similarities observed across
taxonomic boundaries. Both groups contain members that allow for
different levels of evolution within the introduced or modified groups.

Progressive creationists typically don’t permit genetic links between
species whereas creation by evolution does. That’s a big difference in
my estimation.
