I think that Debbie raised an objection that has to be considered and
Glenn's reponse is inadequate. A more correct statement is that the
theory (magneto-hydrodynamics, dynamical sytems ) predicts that the
large scale transitions of magnetic polarity will occur very rapidly,
and that there is observational evidence that this does in fact occur.
Thus Glenn does not have to worry about this particular objection (but
there are other objections that he should be worrying about!)
Incidentally, the YECs have argued that the rapid transition is
evidence for a young earth, but they have ignored the fact that the
interval between reversals is long.
