Sagan didn't love his enemies either. Within the electronics industry,
engineering projects have internal code names that are tossed when the
machine goes to market. In 1994, Apple Computer's* code name for the
PowerMac 7100 was "Carl Sagan" because they hoped it would make them
BILLions and BILLions. Other Macs at the time were code named "Cold Fusion"
and "Piltdown Man". Needless to say he did not like being compared to
pseudo-science and sued. Apple won the suit, but they changed the code name
anyway. The new name was the acronym BHA standing for B*** Head
Astronomer. Dr. Sagan went on to sue for libel, claiming that it exposed
him to ridicule and contempt. Apple won that suit, but changed the name
again, this time to LAW which stands for Lawyers Are Wimps.
