Actually Pim that is true.  Many of the African countries either had
banned it or were 
being pressured to.  It is only recently that the consensus is that
dusting DDT in houses
would save more lives than its environmental impact and some African
countires have returned to it. 
I have had malaria and lived in Africa until I came back to
college.[snip rest of the post - I have not read the secondary sources
yet and probably will not.  However, I have read some of them on ozone
depletion.
