[JJ, I meant to post this as well]
It strikes me that the opportunity for such a catastrophic event is
within the realm of possiblity within Creation, an artifact of Creation
as it is, but unlikely a specifically directed act.
On the other hand, the potential for life to happen, or the nature of it
as introduced, would seem to be more intentional, including its capacity
to survive in some form in an environment such as ours. It is able to
push back against the inorganic scripts to survive, and even in its more
sentient and rational forms, to exploit the physical context, which at
times can be dangerous, or even lethal. How fascinating it is that death
becomes a critical link in the sustained evolutionary chain of life
(looking at it in the big picture, which I'm sure is God's perspective -
it is a HUGE universe)!
Or so it seemeth to me.
