Happy (Julian) New Year, ASA!

In case any of you were wondering how the calendars became different(iated)... let me inform you that 'it just evolved that way!' Such is an evolutionary philosophy of history - the calendars simply changed-over-time to be different than they were before. This is why some people celebrate 'old' New Year today!

Did they/will they shoot off fireworks in your neck of the woods too?!

The 'variation' in celebrations of the New Year (e.g. year of the Pig) is a result of gradual, random human decision-making to satisfy fitness pressures and survival needs and clearly is not a result of something purposeful, meaningful or intentional. Don't let the soul-cial scientists fool you!

Hopefully you'all will have a reasonable, productive and faithful New Year in the USA, England and New Zealand!

Warm regards to the egalitarian association of ASA!

  Gregory Arago
