If you haven't read the review in question, Wells takes advantage of the
overly grand claims made by the book for the impact of the authors' subfield
of evo-devo on evolution generally to make inaccurate attacks on evolution.
Also, the book authors apparently have limited knowledge of the
varied definitions of "intelligent design", but Wells makes a different
version of the same error by identifying his view as the definition of
intelligent design.

It might not hurt if several people were to write Books and Culture and
politely suggest that Wells is neither theologically nor scientifically a
good choice of reviewer.
