Based on its popular reception, most ID, including Dembski, promotes an
either-or scenario. Most ID advocates seem to recognize the error of
either-or when put in bald terms but readily resort to either-or in actual
practice of promoting ID. Alternatives such as ID or evolution, endorse
everything Johnson says or be a craven accommodationist, evolution or
Christianity, etc. or claiming that ID is necessary to good religion (as
Dembski did in his review of Conway Morris's book in Books and Culture) are
all examples of either-or scenarios.
