That all sounds pretty reasonable to me. Thanks for composing or relaying the
detailed answer to the short question, Janice. And I am also (still)
fascinated by the original direction this thread was headed as well.
The 'singular' events which are said to represent insertions of Divine origin
into otherwise natural processes approaches the same set of fundamental
questions but from a potentially fresh perspective. I like many of your
comparisons between the creation issues and the incarnation issues, Jon. If
George Murphy weren't on a hiatus, he would probably refer us back to many
places where he or others have hashed this out. But meanwhile we can
enjoy what
is fresh to us. I note, for one thing, that from a 'scientism hostile to
religion' point of view, both the miraculous introduction of a fully grown man
and the miraculous introduction of a 'fully DNA equipped' sperm cell -- both
these options represent a high level of absurdity to the naturalistically
inclined mind. They are only a difference in degree. One has the natural
processes taking over at a different later point than the other. Both are
equally miraculous.
