[asa] Coulter, and science [moderator note]

List,

It's interesting to see what gets the list animated. I'm not so sure
it's faith-science!

Let's take care with this thread--just because the word "science" is
in the subject line, doesn't mean it's science related. Let's make
sure that we're really talking about Coulter's science and not her
politics.

Since I've addressed some of these issues before with individuals in
private, I'm going to name names this time. There seems to be a
pattern that we're on to some off-topic politically charged issue
when Pim and Janice get into a shouting match over some liberal vs.
conservative issue. Unfortunately, other list members seem to get
drawn into it.

As some of you have discovered, there is a mechanism in place now to
flag messages with a high probability of being off-topic, especially
those with politically-oriented content. Flagged messages must be
moderated when I get around to them before they are posted. The
mechanism is not perfect and can and will be expanded if we can't
show appropriate restraint.

In addition, please express you disagreement with a fellow list
member by addressing the substance of their post and not by not
making personal comments. A corollary to this is that if you think
their post has no substance, then there is nothing for you to respond
to. Several of the posts--on both sides--contain snide remarks about
someone else or their post. Again, please don't post this sort of
drivel. Flagging such posts is somewhat difficult--I'd hate to have a
list of "bad" words. It's easier to flag routine offenders and
moderate every post by them. I don't really like that idea either.
Charity and grace are the best solutions.
