RE: [asa] Global Warming on Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, Venus, ...?

It is interesting.
I like to know the point before I go off hyperlinking - so I will summarize.
Hyperlinks are below.

Mars is cold - 55 degrees below zero. A greenhouse effect on Mars would warm
it up. The best way to get a greenhouse effect is through more carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere. It appears that Mars is experiencing global
warming. The ice patterns have been observed, with seasonal variations for
many years. There is evidence of less ice. The ice has been believed to be
largely carbon dioxide. If there is a solar system wide warming trend that
is warming Mars, then it could trigger the formation of an atmosphere for
Mars.

There is also evidence for warming on other planets according to sites of
less obvious merit. They point out that the warmth on some of the moons of
Jupiter is such as to assume that there is a source of heat other than the
sun. However, they do appear to be getting warmer, and if so, this could
indicate that global warming is a trend that is sun based and not human
based.

Aside: I still think that we need more forests and less automobile
emmissions. Or maybe we could develop great algae farms. Maybe they could be
the soybeans of the future and we could have miles of slimy looking seas
pumping oxygen into the atmosphere while devouring great clouds of carbon
dioxide? I'm willing to try algae 'meat' balls - as long as there's enough
food coloring and texturizing.

I rarely go to Janice's links, because I have found them to be of dubious
authority and filled with tongue and cheek humor or political bias such that
I can't get the facts easily.

This time, I found the first article to be interesting, so went to the
second, which was absurdly 'joky'. So I googled the subject and found
http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn1660

and also an article from NASA

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2001/ast09feb_1.htm

which in combination lead to an interesting picture for some time in the
distant future.
