a site. I did find one bit of information that may apply more broadly. At
www.usbr.gov/lc/hooverdam/faqs/tunlfaqs.html I found, with a head of
about 500': ... Maximum water velocity in the spillway tunnels is about
175 feet per second, ...
Which should come out about 120 mph. This is not an open stream, but the
head should make a difference anywhere it's encountered.

But now I've got other things to do, and there are those getting bored,
so I'll quit this line.
