PRESIDENT'S COLUMN: What can I do to help the creation cause? By John
Morris.
John writes: "Often people ask me: What can I do to help the creation
cause? They have been ministered to by the message of creation and have
experienced the witness of the Spirit as to its truthfulness and
importance. A love for the Bible and concern for people trapped in wrong
thinking compels them to do something, but what?
John urges study of the creation books, focusing on THE MODERN CREATION
TRILOGY, co-authored by himself and Henry. He carefully does NOT advise
reading non-creation materials. He does not recommend political action,
saying that ICR has always encouraged education, not legislation. (I
remember conversations with Henry at the time of the SCOTUS case which
are at variance with that statement, but that's a different era).

IMPACT No. 396 - How Soon Will Jurassic Park Open? By Daniel Criswell.
Daniel writes: "In the fictional movie "Jurassic Park" dinosaurs were
cloned by obtaining the genetic information necessary to make a dinosaur
from ancient DNA (aDNA) sequences extracted from dinosaur blood found in
the gut of mosquitoes embedded in amber."
Daniel makes much of the discovery, in March 2005, of cellular material
in a Ty Rex unearthed by Mary Schweitzer in Montana. I note that
Schweitzer, a committed Christian, is horrified at the use her work has
been twisted to by ICR and other YEC proponents. This is an interesting
article and worth reading. See:

BACK TO GENESIS: BTG 210(a) - How Old Is Life? By John Morris.
John writes: "According to evolution, life has been on Earth for billions
of years. It is common to claim that life originated some three to four
billion years ago. Even though spontaneous generation of life has been
soundly disproved in
every experiment, evolutionists think at least once that non-living
chemicals came together on their own, without the aid of any non-natural
agency, and formed a living cell, complete with its own genetic code."
John argues that a naturalistic origin of life is evolution's biggest
hurdle. His argument continues, claiming that the observed mutation rate
of life proves that life must have been recently created. Otherwise, John
says, all life would have gone extinct years ago.

BACK TO GENESIS: BTG 210(b) - Blue-t-ful Beetles, Birds, `n Butterflies.
By Frank Sherwin.
Frank writes: "The strikingly iridescent blue seen in some butterfly,
beetle, and bird
feathers is well-known and enjoyed by scientists and laymen alike. This
is
due to creatures (and some plants) reflecting or absorbing certain
frequencies of light due to the external chemical composition of their
body."
This is a usual "It's so wonderful it must have been created ex-nihilo"
article.

BACK TO GENESIS: BTG 210(c) - How Coherent Is the Human Evolution Story?
By William Hoesch.
William writes: ""Australopithocines evolved into Homo erectus around 1.5
million years ago and Homo erectus, in turn, evolved into Homo sapiens
around 400,000 years ago." This is presented to school children as no
less certain than
Washington's crossing of the Delaware."
William makes claims about H. erectus that argue against an old earth
chronology. There are 100 fossils of H.E. that are younger than 400,000
years, including some as young as 6000 years. Anatomically modern fossil
humans have been found in rocks dated (in error of course) at 1.5 MY. See
the article at:

-------
BACK TO GENESIS: BTG 210(d) - How Big Is God? By David Coppedge.
David writes: "Most people know the universe is "vast," but until we
visualize it, we shortchange ourselves of some healthy awe. The heavens
glorify God, but should also humble us -- as should become apparent in
the following mental journey."
His article continues with a standard story of the vastness of the
universe. Not bad. No YEC propaganda here.

and Sat Sept 30 at the Calvary Church in Lancaster, Pa and First Baptist
in Dallas.

ICR Research, By Larry Vardiman
Larry "proves" that Gen 1:1-23 is an accurate historical account. The
RATE book has the details in chapter 9. There are 3 parts to the proof,
all independent of one another.
1. A statistical, rigorous, irrefutable proof.
2. A literary argument.
3. Claims from the doctrine of inspiration.

The 6th international conference on creation will be in August, 2008 (3
days) in San Diego. ICR ans CSF (of Pittsburgh) are co-sponsors. Between
500 and 1000 attendees are expected.
Till next month ....
