Dear Colleagues,
Thursday, June 15, is the initial registration deadline for the 2006 ASA
Annual Meeting on "Christian Values in Science and Technology" being held at
Calvin College, July 28-31. The registration
brochure is at http://www.asa3.org/ASA/meetings/Calvin2006/Calvin_brochure.pdf and the registration form is at http://www.asa3.org/ASA/meetings/Calvin2006/Calvin_registration.pdf. After June 15, the conference registration fee increases
slightly and some of the field trips and lodging opportunities may begin to
fill up.
The conference is shaping up very nicely. Plenary speakers include Francis
Collins (human geneticist), Celia Deane-Drummond (botanist & theologican),
Vernon Ehlers (physicist & U.S. House of Representatives), Rudolf Jaenisch
(biologist), and Karen Lebacqz (theological ethicist). There are 89 oral
presentations scheduled in seven special topics symposia and general sessions.
Another 19 abstracts will be presented as posters featuring faculty, graduate
students and undergraduate students and their research from institutions
including multiple submissions from Calvin College, Dordt College, John's
Hopkins University School of Medicine, King's University College, Trinity
Christian College, University of Washington, and Wheaton College. (Additional
poster abstracts will be submitted by Thursday, July 13, to be part of the
2006 Spring/Summer Student Research Poster session.)
If you haven't already registered, I hope you will consider attending and
register soon. For further information on the conference and updates as they
become available, visit the ASA web site at www.asa3.org.
