Continuing my reply to Debbie:

Debbie wrote: "Homosexuality was originally a sin, a free choice,
according to what I read."

This is the point. Homosexuality itself is not addressed in scripture.
The word itself is less than 200 years old and I am unaware that the
condition was recognized as such much before that.

Homosexual acts ARE proscribed in several places in scripture, however in
the Romans passage it seems more likely that Paul was referring to
certain pagan temple practices.

"However, to me, Romans 1 makes it sound as though due to the sins of the
fathers, the condition has entered humanity."

It does appear to read that way; this is a theological issue far beyond
my ken. It does not seem very likely (to me) however.

"I do not know why certain Christian
groups get all het up about it. Why are they threatened?"

Beats me. Since I know personally a number of homosexual Christians (one
is my daughter) who love and serve the Lord, I simply try to address the
subject, as it comes up, in a mild mannered (Clark Kent) fashion. <G>

"My husband's best friend is gay, and stays
out of church due to fear of condemnation."

He would be welcomed at the Rico church. As well as at many churches I
know about (Montview and Mountain View in Denver are two), First
Presbyterian in Austin. Any Metropolitan Church, Any "More Light" church,
etc. Yes, "liberal" ministers are more likely to pastor such a church,
however some very conservative ministers / churches have also figured out
that the church has no business turning anyone away. See the website:

"Do I think that homosexuality is God's perfect will? No."

I happen to agree with you on this one. Although I am not completely
convinced.

"Do I think homosexuals should be ministers or get married in church?
Can't
answer and asked to vote, I would abstain."

These are difficult issues; I have, myself, not (yet) taken a position on
them. I have taken a position homosexuality itself (some call it
wishy-washy) some years back -- see
